However, the end of love is not the end of life.  It should be the beginning of understanding that love leaves for a reason, but never leaves without a lesson.

  69. Everyone wants a perfect ending.  But over the years I’ve learned that some of the best poems don’t rhyme, and many great stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, or end.  Life is about not knowing, embracing change, and taking a moment and making the best of it without knowing what’s going to happen next.
  70. In human relationships, distance is not measured in miles but in affection.  Two people can be right next to each other, yet miles apart.  So stay in touch with those who truly matter to you.  Not because it’s convenient, but because they’re worth the extra effort.

  3. says

Agree with everyone above – great post. I think that retirement gives you the time to evaluate your relationship anew and enter a new stage of romance and appreciation, even if you’ve been together for decades.

  4. says

Thank you so much for all these wonderful quotes. Gives my heart joy and hope to know that there are so many people out there that truly believe that kindness and a smile can actually have an affect on people’s lives. An act of kindness has far-reaching affects. I know because many times in my life I have needed kindness more than love. Thanks again and keep up this inspiring work. PS: I save and reread them all the time.

“10. You know you’ve found true love when you catch yourself falling in love with the same person over and over again.” This one reminds me of my wife. Not every day, but often enough, I find myself thinking how lucky I am, or seeing her doing something and thinking how wonderful she is. I just keep loving her more and more! Haha! Great quotes.

Your content is terrific, but sometimes lengthy.

Consider breaking these 75-item posts down into 15 five-item posts (easier to digest).

Thank you. Keep up the good work!

“…The purpose of a relationship is to complement each other..” I’ve thought about this before, and I’m torn. We’re here to live our own lives, without needing another, and yet we’re here to be valued by others, so..should our partner complement us or supplement us?
I love your other statement, “Someone else doesn’t have to be wrong for you to be right.”
So many years I spent thinking the opposite.
How long did this list take to create?

  8. Rizae says

I agreed with all of these – except where is states that respect is earned. It’s not. It’s like saying someone is not worthy of respect unless they show me they are … I think respect can be a lot like love – I mean, do we love people only because they’ve proved they are loveable? No.

You can withdraw respect, but its never earned. We are asked to respect our spouses, but do we make them earn it? No. We even respect total strangers – have they earned it? No. You extend it until a really good reason (e.g. anything abusive) is given to not extend it.

    Just my thoughts. ♥

Have you ever heard of the saying “so &so commands respect?” Yeah we respect all but the respect I guess they’re talking about is like what separates grown up from children. You prove by your actions that you’ve matured

This is quite the article. It really feels like you post article conducive to what’s going on in my life.

It’s been about a solid year since I’ve spoken to my ex of about 2 years. Long story short–I loved her with all my heart but she decided we didn’t work well together. She tried to keep contact initially but it was decided we give each other space (which is what I wanted).

It’s been about a year since we’ve spoken and part of me wants to say hi and see how she is. Despite her breaking up with me I don’t have resentment or hatred toward her. She’s probably one of the best things that could’ve happened to me in life. She taught me a lot about myself in regard to my own worth and how to treat myself.

It hurts that we couldn’t stay together but there were a lot of precious memories and experiences I had with her that I won’t forget. I struggle with whether or not I should talk to her again not to initiate friendship or consistent conversation–I don’t think those things are healthy. There’s no real impression that I hate her but I abruptly just didn’t initiate conversation and stopped talking to her.

Not having her in my life has made it better but for some reason the notion that I could be giving an impression that I hate her bothers me, because I don’t. I really still care about her which is scary but its the truth.

  11. David J. Singer says

Many fantastic quotes. I love this one best… No relationship is a waste of time.  The wrong ones teach you the lessons that prepare you for the right ones.
    Thanks so much.
    Best regards,

I love getting your posts regularly and they often have tidbits I need to hear. And, this list is wonderful, but I read it and often wondered how more wonderful it would be if you took the negativity out of it. Could you rephrase the items that start with “Never” or “Don’t”? You’ve done this with some of the entries. I found myself getting down as I read all the don’ts and never-dos.

    Just a thought to share.

  13. says

I think the word ‘respect’ here means that more than just ‘being considerate.’ I am ‘considerate’ to all,, but give my respect to those who have shown themselves to be of a character that i find admirable. There is a difference. :) just my thoughts as well. .. and honesty is a gift to be more than just appreciated.. honesty is a gift to be repected… and more..

  14. says

Thanks for putting this together Angel. A great list to keep handy.

On a list like this there are always certain ones that you’ve never seen or have forgotten. It’s amazing what a short sentence can inspire, isn’t it?

  15. says

Thank you for sharing this. :)

My favorite: “Sometimes it is better to be kind than to be right. We do not always need an intelligent mind that speaks, just a patient heart that listens.”

I’m not always the person with the right think to say, but I’m pretty good at listening. :)

  16. ravi says

” Say what you mean and mean what you say. Don’t expect others to read your mind, and don’t play games with their heads and hearts. Don’t tell half-truths and expect people to trust you when the full truth comes out. Half-truths are no better than lies. And don’t ignore someone you care about, because lack of concern hurts more than angry words. ”

Appreciate what you are doing…its simply great and so inspiring too..above is my favourite :)

  17. says

“Falling in love is not a choice. To stay in love is” – One needs to put effort for that. As the lyrics go, Love is a verb, Love aint a thing. Its not something you own, its not something you scream!

  18. Rae says

“The one who is meant for you encourages you to be your best, but still loves and accepts you at your worst.”

Thank you for sharing! We often think that saying words of encouragement / affirmation is an act of love but real love shows only by our action upon seeing the worst of our partners. I gave up on someone who said he loved me but went into a retreat when I was at my worst.

    Wonderful Quotes list.

    Love this:
“The first to apologize is the bravest.
The first to forgive is the strongest.
The first to move forward is the happiest.”

In relationship, it’s about trust; no trust, no relationship.

  23. aj says

Too often, we find ourselves in a relationship full of drama. Why is it so hard to let those relationships go? You love each other…. I wish letting go was easier. Your posts woke me from my slumber of hope and dreams to the reality that my relationship is not ok. I’m thankful for the strength and encouragement your words provide.

  24. says

    Spot on post guys!

I always enjoy being inspired by what you two built together and it’s amazing to hear some of the quotes you have on here. Thanks for the amazing share and love that you share with us all. I know people have trouble searching for love because of a variety of reasons.

Whether they’re dealing with open relationships, bad breakups, or long distance relationships, everyone seem to have a major impact in their relationship. But sometimes the best thing to do is to read a love relationship quote, reflect back on it and remember why you have a relationship in the first place.
